Former President Donald Trump on Thursday called the mother of Rachel Morin, a mother of five whom authorities say was murdered by an illegal immigrant.
Morin was killed while on a hiking trail in Maryland in August of last year. Earlier this week, authorities charged illegal immigrant Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, 23, with her death and rape.
Patty Morin, Rachel's mother, expressed appreciation for Trump's call.
"I am deeply touched by President Trump’s kindness and concern," Morin said, according to the New York Post. "He was genuine and truly wanted to know how our family was coping. He asked about Rachel and showed honest compassion for her untimely death."
