Medical professionals and some parents in Florida are complaining about how much harder it's getting to perform highly controversial and often irreversible gender-transition surgeries or hormone treatments on children now that Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration is cracking down on such extreme forms of "gender-affirming care.”
Florida’s medical board has begun the process of banning certain "gender-affirming medical treatments" for children and adolescents following guidance from the Florida Department of Health, which recommends against puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and gender reassignment surgery for anyone under 18.
DeSantis has said he would support legislation preventing children from undergoing gender-transition surgeries.
